This exhibition, "The Radiance of Life," is a solo exhibition that can be said to be the origin of expression that artist Yuko MIZOBUCHI reached after a deep experience of loss and a dialogue with life.
The title comes from the work of the same name created in 2019 after overcoming the experience of losing both parents at the same time.
Years have passed since then, and in recent years, Mizobuchi has once again faced the preciousness of daily life and life through the serious illness of her beloved cat, an irreplaceable family member. From her current perspective, she returns to the expression of "the brilliance of life."
The layers of oil-based pigments, Japanese painting pigments, and ink applied to the carved marks on the wood panel visualize the engraved time and emotions, along with the depth of the colors.
The countless spots and small circles that appear on the screen are traces of the primitive impulse that wells up from the artist's inner depths, and they take on the universal symbolism of "circulation" that is nurtured precisely because it is "finite," speaking directly to the viewer's mind and body.
The life forms in the works are also abstract images created directly from Mizobuchi's senses, and they transform freely according to the viewer's inner world.
In this exhibition, which expresses the love for a limited life and the brilliance of the moment, we hope that you will entrust your sensibility and yourself to the world of imagination that transcends words and experience it.
