The "Your Eyes" in the theme of this solo exhibition does not mean "the eyes of others," but rather the artist Kaoru Yoshikawa's own past self as seen from her present self. In other words, "Your Eyes" is not just a mirror reflecting the past, but a symbol of self-transcendence that serves as a catalyst for her past self to transform into a new "self."
"I want to convey through my work to my 'former self' who is suffering from being trapped in the past that 'there is a possibility to stand up' and 'you have the power to move forward'," says Yoshikawa. It is a record of self-transformation, an encouragement and a message from her past to her future self.
This time, in addition to about 30 new works, the grand prize-winning work from the "BrainBrunn ART AWARD 2024" in which she was selected will be exhibited, as well as her first three-dimensional work.
Please pay attention to the works that boldly express a mixture of abstraction and manga expression using oil paint and other materials, with porcelain that she baked herself attached to the canvas.

His two-dimensional expressions, which feature dynamic brushwork using oil paints and other materials, reflect deep contemplation in each stroke, and are imbued with the artist's delicate nature.
His worldview, which he calls the "Ochibo World," is intended to work directly on the viewer's heart and stir their emotions and thoughts. It is his abstract expression that "transcends form and definition as a neutral entity that enables self-dialogue and is a proof of life."
This time, he is trying his hand at small-scale works for the first time. Please look forward to these works, which are said to have taken the same amount of production time as his large-scale works.
